During 2016 the Palace of Versailles will be inviting amateur and experienced photographers on Instagram to capture the riches and variety of the Estate, as part of four separate competitions held on the social network. Spring, summer, autumn, winter… each season will have its competition and winners.
The fourth competition is being held in Winter, from 1 to 31 December 2016. Participants can post their photos with the hashtag #VersaillesWinter or #VersaillesHiver.
The Palace of Versailles and its Estate offer constantly changing perspectives. The alleys, parterres, colours of the fountains and the light on the horizons are transformed with the changing of the seasons. The competition “A season in Versailles” is open to Instagram users all over the world to capture this transformation through their own vision and creativity, a far cry from traditional images of the Palace of Versailles.
Participants can enter one, several or all four competitions according to their inspiration by posting their pictures on their Instagram account.
A panel of judges, composed of Catherine Pégard, President of the Public Institution of the Palace, Museum and National Estate of Versailles, professional photographers from the Palace of Versailles and the Instagram team for @chateauversailles, will choose 5 winners for each season. The winning photos will be selected according to the following criteria: respect of the different themes (spring, summer, autumn, winter) and aesthetic of the images.
1. Follow the Instagram account: @chateauversailles
2. Publish three photos maximum per season with the dedicated hashtags (#VersaillesWinter or #VersaillesHiver) and provide a title for each image posted.
3. Identify the Palace’s account in each photo.
