Programme of 19 June 2010

To mark the 70th anniversary of General de Gaulle’s Appeal for Resistance launched from London, the Château de Versailles proposes an afternoon of discovery organised around the figure of the man who, in the words of Malraux, “delivered France from its abandonment of itself”.

This anniversary is organised in Marly whose Pavillon de Chasse (hunting lodge) was a temporary “country house” for the General and his family in 1946, and the Estate was one of the presidential hunting sites recovered by the Head of State in autumn 1959.

Programme of the afternoon (accessible only by reservation) :

The Pavillon de Chasse – departures at 2 pm, 2:45 pm and 3:30 pm
Guided tour of the Pavillon de Chasse by M. Bruno Bentz, Director of the Ecole de la Campagne et de la Forêt de Marly le Roi (the three tours depart from the entrance to the Pavillon de Chasse).

The presidential hunts – departures at 2:45 pm, 3:30 pm and 4:15 pm
Lecture-tour of the countryside surrounding the Pavillon by Mme Odile Caffin-Carcy (the three tours depart from the entrance to the Pavillon de Chasse).

Unaccompanied visit to the Pavillon de Chasse – 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

De Gaulle and his family in Marly – talk from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Talk by the journalist and writer Mr Eric Roussel, biographer of Charles de Gaulle (in a tent close to the Pavillon de Chasse).

Concert by a Saxophone Quintet of the Garde republicaine from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
The afternoon will end with a concert by a Saxophone Quintet of the Garde republicaine (in a tent close to the Pavillon de Chasse).

Rate for the complete afternoon: € 7

Information and reservations (subject to availability) until 14 June 2010 from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 7 pm, at 01 30 83 78 00.

Attention: two reservation levels are possible:

Level 1 (€ 7): the complete afternoon, with the two guided tours, the place reserved for the talk by M. Eric Roussel and the concert of the Garde republicaine. 75 places are available for this Level 1 reservation.

Level 2 (free): the second part of the afternoon only, with an unaccompanied visit to the Pavillon de Chasse between 4:30 and 5:30 pm, a place reserved for the talk by M. Eric Roussel and the concert of the Garde republicaine: 75 places are available for this Level 2 reservation.
