The European Museums Night

The Night

To mark the European Museums Night 2011, the Palace of Versailles is opening its Petit Parc for an original showcasing of its gardens based on the theme of Night and Groves, a Bestiary at Versailles.

As soon as night falls, the finest specimens of the bestiary that decorates the ceilings of the Hall of Mirrors and the Grand Apartments will come alive on the hundred metres of the façade of the central section of the palace facing the garden, in a ballet of claws and fangs.

Bathed in the atmosphere of the illuminated façade, the night-time visitors will then head off into the groves, guided by markers, for a ramble lasting about two hours and featuring the most surprising animals of the Petit Parc’s statuary (wild boars, seals, lions, snakes, chameleons, deer, etc.).

NB: the Palace remains closed to the public.

Opening times Access
From 8:30 pm to 1:00 am
The projection will start at night-fall (around 9:45 pm)
Free admission via the Cour d’Honneur
