For the 2012 – 2013 musical season, the Palace of Versailles will be hosting numerous operas, concerts and ballets in exceptional settings: the Royal Opera, the Hall of Mirrors, the Royal Chapel, the Hercules Salon and the Crusades Rooms.
This year, come to discover or rediscover great operas including Alessandro by Handel performed by Max Emanuel Cencic and Vivica Genaux and Le Bourgeois gentilhomme by Lully directed by Denis Podalydès in the Royal Opera of Versailles.
Concerts will throw new light on their setting in the Hall of Mirrors, such as the virtuoso recital given by Patricia Petibon, or in the Royal Chapel, with compositions by Mozart and Schubert conducted by Laurence Equilbey.
For Holy Week, sacred music will fill the Royal Chapel, such as the Te Deum by Lully and Charpentier and the Stabat Mater by Pergolese.
Lastly, ballet companies will take over the stage of the Royal Opera, such as the Béjart Ballet Lausanne which returns to Versailles and the Malandain Ballet Biarritz with Cinderella.
