Choreographic creation by Beatric Massin, Terpsichore pays tribute to the muse of dance and confirms the choreographer's energy-filled new baroque style. One act of song and dance, a genuine miniature opera conceived by Handel during famous dancer Marie Sallé's trip to London, shows the French influence on all of Europe.

The unbridled comedy of the Saint-Germain Forest Fairies ballet is perhaps one of the most amusing of the genre: the various fairies of dance, music, players, "valiant fighters" and "imbeciles" come out of the woods in turn to highlight their art and that of their whimsical troops.

The invention of action ballet, owing to the genius of French choreographer Noverre, consecrates the total emancipation of dance: the movement is now just as powerful as the spoken word. While he maintained the wonderful episodes and sparkling costumes of the baroque style, he was above all trying to render emotions in all their subtlety, from the most tender love to the most murderous rage.

In this adaptation, Eduardo Lao has conserved the original music composed by Leo Delibes. However, the original libretto by Charles Nuitter has been reworked to ensure that the story is in accord with contemporary audiences. This creation takes place in a laboratory where Doctor Coppelius is attempting to create a female android that moves and acts like a real human.
