Palace of Versailles and artistic crafts

The Palace of Versailles is a veritable conservatory of artistic crafts. Fountain engineers, upholsterers, gilders, painting and sculpture restorers, gardeners and photographers work here every day, transmitting their knowledge from generation to generations and contributing to the preservation of this unique heritage. Many craftsmen are called upon, like the marble restorers on the Latona Fountain.

 The Latona Fountain restoration

Since March 2013, the Palace of Versailles has been restoring the Latona Fountain, the masterpiece of its gardens, with support from Fondation Philanthropia. Set up in the open air, this project is an opportunity to talk to the public. A website makes it possible to follow the work’s progress live every day.
