Self-guided tours

Self-guided tours enables you to take advantage of speaking rights and time slot for direct access to the visit (Entrance B) after requesting a reservation/

* speaking rights are governed by law. Only the following are authorised: teachers with their students, qualified guides and guides certified by the Ministry of Tourism in France and the curators. Commentary is limited in the Salon de l'Oeil-de-Boeuf, the Kings Chamber and the Council Study, depending on crowd sizes.

If you would like to be granted speaking rights, please indicate this in the comments on the request form.

Reservation: Reservations required by telephone at +33 (0)1 30 83 04 05.
Reservations can be made for a time slot up to the day before the visit, subject to availability. 
Palace tour: The group benefits from guaranteed priority entrance at Entrance B at the given time. A school left luggage area is open at the Entrance B, subject to availability.

CAUTION: As there are far more requests for self-guided tours for school groups than the Palace can accept, the establishment often has to refuse them. We therefore ask groups to comply with their reservations. If a group does not show up the day of its scheduled visit, a €25 flat rate will automatically be invoiced.

Individual visits are made without reservations and without speaking rights.

Practical information

Price: free
Procedure: School groups get free entrance to the Palace of Versailles, even without reservations. The group leader must have a list of students with their dates of birth. This official document must be on the educational institution's letterhead paper, in French or in English, and stamped.
Palace tour: This document must be presented at the North Ministers Wing and free tickets will be issued to the group, which can then go to the individual visitors entrance at Entrance A to visit the Palace.

School groups can visit the gardens of Versailles independently.

Access without reservation 

Practical information

Free individual visits: every day from 1st November to 31st March (low season) + days other than Foutains Show days from 1st April to 31st October (high season).

Paid individual visits: on Foutains Show days, there is an entrance fee for the gardens.

A relaxation and picnic area is available to school groups in the gardens (only with a Foutains Show ticket on Foutains Show days).
