Bizet's masterpiece needs no introduction. The most emblematic opera of the French repertoire and probably the most performed opera around the world. Gypsies, bandits, soldiers and toreador set the scene of a work where passions are pushed to the extreme, from love to death. Directed by Luciano Acocella, Vivica Genaux and Florian Laconi are brought together for a legendary duo.

When Rossini composed La Cambiale di matrimonio in Venice in 1810, he was only 18 years old and already inexhaustibly loquacious. His single act farce portrays a young girl who is sold by her father by means of a bill of exchange with a rich American who has come to demand his due. As in all respectable comedies, the ingénue has another lover and will do anything to escape the greybeard who covets her.

Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme is the sparkling result of the alliance of the genius of Molière and Lully, for the utmost satisfaction of Louis XIV. Here, Molière's work is done justice by the stage direction of Denis Podalydès and Lully's by Christophe Coin and his Limoges Baroque Ensemble, for an opera whose comic force hasn't aged a bit.
