The Petite Orangerie

A new space for the Estate

The Petite Orangerie is the eastward extension of the Grande Orangerie.

Extension of the Grande Orangerie

The “Petite Orangerie” is a building that opens out to the south with three high windows and overlooks a small Parterre along the southern side of the monumental "Cent Marches" stairway.

It is connected to the southern end of the South Wing by a large stairway installed in the 19th century as part of the work carried out under King Louis Philippe to transform this wing into the Museum of French History.

Operation for refurbishing the inside

The inside of the Petite Orangerie, long assigned to technical uses for the Gardens Department, is now empty. It has great potential given its location (between the South Wing of the Palace and the Grande Orangerie) and its dimensions (20-m long, 6-m wide and 8-m high).

Refurbishment of the Petite Orangerie will make it possible to reach the Grande Orangerie directly from the Palace. After the work, plans are to have the restored sculpture groups from the Apollo’s Baths presented here.

Estimated budget: €1,000,000
