“We didn’t think we had the resources until I read an article on the “Adoption” Campaign. I contacted the Palace and the deal was sealed within 48 hours! We want to be associated with Versailles’ image of excellence.”
Jean-François Jiquel, Manager of Les Jardins du Roi Soleil
The statues
The campaign to restore the Statues launched in 2005 was a great success and has continued on each year since then: to this date, more than a hundred statures have been restored thanks to donors from all different backgrounds (French or foreign citizens, SMEs, major groups, private individuals, foundations, associations and organisations) whose names appear on the plaques located at the foot of each statue. 5 busts, 7 vases and 17 statues are still available for adoption and 8 are waiting for a benefactor who will provide funding for copies to be made so that the original can be stored safely inside the Palace. Estimated budget before tax break: 5,000 to 10,000 euros, and up to €60,000 when a copy must be made.

The benches
This campaign offers a new possibility: associating one’s name with the restoration of one or more benches, made of stone or marble, among the 170 found in the Gardens of Versailles. 30 benches which are currently dismantled and located in the Palace’s reserve collection will be restored and returned to the Gardens. This campaign has been met with significant success among private individuals as well as departments and companies. Over fifty benches have been adopted. A plaque at the foot of each bench is a reminder of the donor’s generosity. Today, nearly thirty benches are waiting for a benefactor who will allow them to be restored to their brilliance of long ago. Budget before tax break: €3,800
