Special opening of The Royal Tennis Court

On 20 June 1789, the Royal Tennis Court of Versailles played a major part in French history. From being a royal sports hall during the reign of Louis XIV, it became synonymous with the foundation of French democracy and will be forever linked to a key episode in the French Revolution.

Restoration of the Dauphin’s apartment

The project to restore the Dauphin’s apartment, which has been made possible thanks to the support of several patrons, is starting in October 2020 and will last 12 months (to October 2021). This restoration project follows on from the work on the Queen’s State Apartments and the Dauphine’s apartment completed in 2019

Restoration of the Royal Tennis Court

The Royal Tennis Court, located in the Saint-Louis district at the foot of the Palace of Versailles, made French history on 20 June 1789. It played a key role in the foundation of French democracy, but is now in need of substantial restoration work.

Madame Du Barry’s apartment covers almost 350 m2 and comprises a dozen or so rooms, some of the most ornate of which require restoration.
