The Rabbids at Versailles

Mobile game set in the garden of the Palace of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles, in partnership with Ubisoft, is introducing the mobile app Rabbids @ Versailles, available now free of charge in five languages. Ten augmented-reality mini-games offer children a fun-filled learning experience in the gardens of Versailles.

Free mobile app

The game is a treasure hunt for families and for children aged eight and up. The Rabbids have invaded the gardens of Versailles and players must flush them out, on the tracks of a mysterious Rabbid Louis XIV.

Geolocation technology automatically activates ten mini-games in augmented reality according to the visitor's location in the gardens. Playtime and learning come together as children discover iconic sites such as the Latona Basin, the Parterre of the Orangery and the groves found around the French gardens.

With each mini-game, players collect pieces of the regal garb of Rabbid Louis XIV, while also learning fun facts about the sites surrounding them: the hydraulic workings of the Latona Basin and the origin of the trees in the Orangery among others.

Social medial users can also find a Rabbid Louis XIV filter on Instagram and have fun placing the character in a variety of situations.

In addition to the audio guide app, which features more than a dozen itineraries including three specially designed for children, this new app makes discovering the gardens of Versailles child’s play, combining an exceptional cultural site with entertainment for the whole family.

Partnership with Ubisoft

In honour of the fifteenth anniversary of the Rabbids franchise, Ubisoft decided to launch a sponsorship initiative for the Palace of Versailles, in the form of a new game for young visitors.

Created in 2006 at Ubisoft’s Montpellier studio, the Rabbids characters immediately won over a vast audience of fans. With 20 million games sold worldwide, a successful television series broadcast in more than 110 countries, an innovative attraction at the Futuroscope theme part and a full-length film currently in preparation, the Rabbids franchise has become a veritable multimedia phenomenon.

Ubisoft is a leading creator, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and services, with a rich portfolio of world-renowned brands, including the Rabbids.
