An outstanding estate
The history of the Palace of Versailles starts at the 17th century. It was first a hunting lodge, then a seat of power, and finally, from the 19th century onwards, a museum. Composed of the Palace, the gardens, the Park, the Trianon estate and several buildings in town, today the Estate of Versailles spreads over more than 800 hectares.

What’s on
Exhibition

The Grand Dauphin (1661-1711), Son of a king, father of a king, but never a king
The Palace of Versailles is presenting an exhibition devoted to the Grand Dauphin, Louis de France, the eldest child of Louis XIV. It traces the life of this often overlooked prince through nearly 250 works from French and international collections. As heir to the throne, he was the focal point of Bourbon dynastic ambitions, without ever reigning, but his education, residences and taste for the arts reflect the destiny which was his due.

From April 1 to October 31 2025, enjoy the Musical Gardens and the Musical Fountains Show in the gardens and groves opened for the occasion. Every Saturday evening from 7 June to 20 September, discover the Gardens in the evening with the The Night Fountains Show.
