Versailles: Lost Gardens of the Sun King

© GEDEON Experiences - Small Creative - Vive Arts - Château de Versailles

For the first time, the Palace of Versailles opened its doors for an extraordinary virtual reality (VR) journey back in time! Visitors immersed themselves in 1682 and joined André Le Nôtre, Louis XIV’s gardener, on a special tour of specific groves of the gardens which are no existing anymore.

An immersive experience

Virtual reality had come to the Palace! Our first experience was available on site at the Palace of Versailles entitled Versailles: Lost Gardens of the Sun King, coproduced by GEDEON Experiences, Small Creative, VIVE Arts and the Palace of Versailles, was available onsite from 25th March 2025 to 4th January 2026.

Visitors were able to explore iconic areas of the gardens which have now disappeared as they were projected into the heart of the 17th century for a poetic interactive walk led by André le Nôtre, Louis XIV’s gardener.

This was a unique opportunity to discover the royal Menagerie with its exotic animals, the Labyrinth Grove and its fountains, and the grotto of Thetis with its exceptional rocaille decor!
