SHOWS at the palace
With this exceptional new program, the Royal Opera offers six new productions:
- Dido and Aeneas by Purcell
- Sonya Yoncheva chante Noël at the Royal Chapel
- Polifemo by Porpora
- L’Uomo femina by Galuppi
- Carmen by Bizet
- The Daughter of the Regiment by Donizetti
This program marks the return of some great productions:
- The Magic Flute by Mozart
- David And Jonathas by Charpentier
- Le Carnaval Baroque imagined by Vincent Dumestre
- La Senna Festeggiante by Vivaldi in the incredible setting of the Queen's Theatre
In concert, here are rare works from the repertoire: Francesca Caccini's Alcina, the first opera by a woman composer, Philidor's Ernelinde, Princess of Norway and Clérambault's Story of the Adulterous Woman, will rub shoulders with masterpieces of the genre, such as Rameau's Pygmalion, Handel's Alcina, Monteverdi's L’Orfeo and Stefano Landi's, or Handel's monumental Solomon. José de Torres' Requiem of Louis I of Spain, King for 150 days, will be performed exactly 300 years after its premiere in Madrid.
This new program brings together all the generations of artists who have graced the Royal Opera stage: singers Philippe Jaroussky, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Bruno de Sá, Sabine Devieilhe, Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian, Marie Lys, Lisette Oropesa, Gaëlle Arquez and Samuel Mariño. Conductor William Christie celebrates his 80th birthday with two exceptional concerts in this prestigious venue.
The Royal Opera continues its already famous Ring by Wagner with the troupe of the Théâtre National de la Sarre: in 2025, Siegfried will be presented under the direction of Sébastien Rouland, for yet another extraordinary musical moment.
Sacred music concerts at the Royal Chapel complete the program: Handel's Messiah, Monteverdi's Vespers of the Virgin, Mozart's Requiem and Brahms' Requiem, Charpentier's Midnight Mass and Bach's Cantatas will make this incomparable edifice resound.
Over the coming season, the Orchestre de l’Opéra Royal will be in the spotlight in the pit and in the Chapel, with more than 20 productions and over 40 performances on the program, not to mention tours in France and abroad, often accompanied by the Chœur de l’Opéra Royal. And his musicians will be celebrating Johann Strauss's Bicentenary with you as a New Year's concert!
The Royal Opera will also welcome for the first time Molière's mythical The Miser, played by Jérôme Deschamps, and, following its triumph in 2023, will revive Fabrice Luchini's La Fontaine et le confinement. Several exceptional ballets will be on offer: Thierry Malandain's powerful Marie-Antoinette, the Soloists of the San Carlo Theatre Ballet in Naples in a program by Jerome Robbins, and Angelin Preljocaj's latest creation, Requiem(s).
