The European Night of Museums is back for its 19th edition on Saturday 13 May, offering a unique opportunity for iconic cultural places through an immersive sound scenography. This year, the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Palace of Versailles is celebrated with an evocation of Louis XIV’s apartment evenings in the King’s Grand Apartment.

On the occasion of the 19th European Night of Museums and the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Palace of Versailles, take part in the emblematic apartment evenings of the reign of Louis XIV through a sound scenography in the King’s Grand Apartment on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
The King's Grand Apartment
The King's Grand Apartment is one of the most emblematic rooms in the Palace of Versailles. It consists of a suite of seven rooms, each with a sumptuous decoration and a different theme. The suite of salons was used for official receptions and royal audiences, and is now presented to the public in all its splendour. The King's Grand Apartment is one of the most important places in the Palace of Versailles to discover the history of French royalty and its influence on architecture and art.

Activities
Visitors will be able to discover the succession of salons in the King's Grand Apartment at nightfall. In this exceptional atmosphere, a sound scenography will dive the public into the 18th century, into the luxury and excitement of apartment evenings. Students from the École du Louvre will also be on hand to provide mediation throughout the tour.
The tour includes the Hercule Room, the Grand Apartments and the exhibition Masterpieces from the King's Chamber.

- Free admission without reservation
- Opening hours: 7pm - 12am (last access at 11pm)
- The exit will be through the royal gate.
