The famous mezzo-soprano comes back to Versailles to play The Cenerentola, masterpiece of the composer Rossini.
24 and 26 Febuary 2017 - Royal Opera CECILIA BARTOLI : LA CENERENTOLA
20 years ago, Cecilia Bartoli first took the role of Cenerentola/Cinderella at the Zurich Opera in Rossini’s opera. Immediately, her interpretation, in turns dashing, tender, dazzling, mischievous and commanding, made this a reference performance of the most famous opera house in Switzerland.
Two decades later, Cecilia has decided to bid farewell to this flagship work with a tour to close this exceptional musical chapter! She has chosen Versailles for two staged performances in costume, together with a group who knows this show perfectly, having performed it many times at Cecilia’s side. A new orchestra, the Prince’s Musicians, founded at her instigation, accompanies this tour; they are based at the Monte Carlo Opera and led by the impetuous Diego Fasolis.
Two unforgettable evenings, for the Cinderella who has become a Princess of Opera…
