The Apollo's fountain, a central feature of the Gardens of Versailles, is in need of major restoration. The gilded lead subjects of Apollo on his chariot will be restored to their former glory.
Since December 2022, the sculpted group has been dismantled, crated and transported to a workshop for major restoration. The aim is to return to the fountain design of the late 17th century, and to restore the sculptures of Apollo's chariot to their original "bronzure" coating. The Apollo's Chariot will be reopened in April 2024 for the Fountains Shows.
