The European Night of Museums
For the European Night of Museums 2022, the Palace of Versailles is offering night owls the chance to discover an exceptionally open place, for a unique visiting experience.
The Sculptures and Mouldings Gallery
In the Petite Ecurie of the château, the Sculptures and Mouldings Gallery houses some of the original sculptures from the château's gardens, which have been sheltered from the weather for conservation reasons and replaced outside by copies. This space also houses the gypsothèque of the Louvre's Department of Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities, a collection of casts of ancient sculptures that has been used to train French artists since Louis XIV.
In addition to the night-time opening of the gallery, you will be able to discover the National Higher School of Architecture of Versailles and the Maréchalerie, by moving freely between the different spaces.
Student mediators will also propose a discussion linking the collections of the Palace of Versailles and the Louvre Museum on the theme of the biennial : from 14 May to 13 July, the gallery will host the Architecture and Landscape Biennial organised by the Ile-de-France region, with the exhibition Visible, Invisible - Monumenta.
- Free admission without reservation
- Opening hours: 6pm - 12am (last access at 11pm)
- Access to the Petite Écurie and the Place des Manèges
For this event, the palace of Versailles invites all visitors to share their experience on social networks: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, with the hashtag #Versaillesbynight.
