Picnic Park and Gardens

Enjoy a lunch break in the estate with an outdoor picnic.

Picnic in the park

Picnics are allowed in the park and notably on the Saint Antoine Plain, between the Palace and the Trianon palaces, where ball games are also permitted. You can also picnic by the Lake of the Swiss Guard, opposite the Orangery, outside the Estate and accessible from the city via Rue de l’Indépendance Américaine or from the park via the Sailors’ Gate.

Access to the gardens and this covered area is free of charge, except on Musical Fountains Shows and Musical Gardens days, which primarily take place from late March to late October on most Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, see exact dates.

Opening hours: every day from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm in high season (April to October) and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in low season (November to March).
In high season, the gardens and the covered area close at 5:30 pm on Fountains Night Shows and on certain other days.

Picnic in the gardens

In the gardens, a picnic area has been set up in the Marmousets hall, near from the water walk. This area, with its toilets, is the only place in the gardens where picnics are permitted.

Admission to the gardens is charged from Tuesday to Sunday during Fountains Shows and Musical Gardens Shows. Access remains free on Mondays.

Life on the Estate

Talk to the sculptures of the Gardens of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles offers, thanks to a partnership with Ask Mona and OpenAI, a unique experience for its visitors: twenty iconic fountains and statues from the Gardens become narrators of their own stories. For the first time at Versailles, these masterpieces of heritage speak and engage in conversations with the public.
