Mathieu Lustrerie

Since 1948, the name Mathieu Lustrerie has been synonymous with the art of lighting. Each year, several hundred light fixtures are restored by the studio’s craftspeople, who apply all their expertise to the rewarding and varied projects that come their way.

Handled with the utmost attention to detail using traditional techniques, the finished pieces are naturally at home in various historical locations – particularly Versailles, in the famous Hall of Mirrors. In choosing to work with Mathieu Lustrerie, the Palace of Versailles has entrusted the studio with faithfully reproducing, making and delivering the light fixtures in its centuries-old collections.

Maison Edmond Petit

Maison Edmond Petit has been developing and preserving its extraordinary collection of more than 1,500 designs and furnishing fabrics since 1872. This rich diversity is also reflected in the noble and natural materials that make up its catalogue: velvets, silks, damasks, lampas, printed fabrics, toiles, etc.

The skills developed by the Maison Edmond Petit workshop, which have been passed down from generation to generation, meant it was well able to fulfil the Palace of Versailles’ order to reissue a toile used in the restoration of the King’s Private Apartments in the Grand Trianon. Historically used as a decorative fabric from 1836, for Louis-Philippe, this toile features majestic bouquets on a white background and will be available to purchase by the public.

Manufacture Normand

The adventure began with the idea of the gardeners in the Queen’s Hamlet to ask the Manufacture Normand to create large frost-proof pots in shades of blue and white. These two pots were based on the Manufacture’s crest. The gardeners later turned to the Manufacture again, this time asking it to reproduce the queen’s pot, created in the 18th century by the Saint Clément manufactures and only one original example of which is still in existence.

Cristalleries Saint Louis

The Saint-Louis glassworks, in collaboration with the Conservation Department of the Palace of Versailles, designed four tumblers inspired by the styles that characterised the individual reigns of Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI and Louis-Philippe. This exceptional collection – created by master glass makers and cutters who are recognised as among the Best Craftsmen in France – is the result of ancient skills: mouthblown crystal, cut and engraved by hand.

Bernardaud

Supported by the curators at the Palace of Versailles, porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud has reissued (under the “Ancienne Manufacture Royale” label) part of the “Gobelet du Roy” tableware collection, as well as a mug called “Au Jardin Chinois”, both held by the Palace of Versailles. This collaboration extended to the design, which was inspired by the décors and original shapes of 18th- and 19th-century masterpieces, a tableware collection called “Versailles” and a lithophane on the theme of the “Fountains Show”.

The Kilometre Paris Scarf

Since it was founded, Kilometre Paris has been celebrating magical, off-the-beaten-track locations by embroidering their GPS coordinates onto unique items. In 2020, a special focus is being given to Marie-Antoinette’s country retreat at 48° 49’ 9’’ N 2° 6’ 46’’ E, The Queen's Hamlet, Palace of Versailles, France. Hand embroidered, these coordinates indicate the exact location of the Marlborough Tower.

Touched by the history and intimacy of this secret world, Alexandra Senes, a designer at Kilometre Paris, wanted to pay tribute to the imagination and fantasies of Marie-Antoinette by dedicating a large silk scarf to her memory that is elegant, unique and ornamented with motifs inspired by the architecture and topography of the location.

The design includes the Marlborough Tower sitting on the rocks, its shape unmistakeably evocative of a lighthouse with its wrought-iron staircase, the Queen's boudoir, the surrounding thatched cottages and the silhouette of a coach racing at full speed along the walks in the royal park.
