By adopting one or more trees along the Allée de l’Accroissement, you can help bring the Park of Versailles back to life.

A pathway radiating from the Etoile Royale

This winter, more than 100 linden trees were replanted in an effort to comprehensively restore the Allée de l’Accroissement, one of the foundational pathways in the Park of Versailles. The reconditioning of this walkway, which branches out from the Etoile Royale, will create a visual borderline for the Park of Versailles while enclosing this natural expanse to better protect the Park’s flora and fauna.

Storms in 1990 and 1999, caused severe damage and downed thousands of trees in the Gardens of Versailles, commissioned Louis XIV and designed by André le Notre. A sweeping restoration programme was thus initiated and continues to this day.

The reconditioning of the Allée de l’Accroissement will improve water regulation and promoting carbon storage. The choice to plant linden trees (Tilia cordata) recognizes the traditional presence of this variety in the Gardens of Versailles, an environment to which it is well suited.
