Let us guide your exploration of the Estate of Versailles so that you get the most from your visit and your time in Versailles.

The day of your visit to the Estate of Versailles has arrived ! There are various ways to get here from Paris by public transport: you can take a suburban train (“Transilien”) from either Gare St. Lazare station to Versailles Rive Droite or from Montparnasse station to Versailles Chantiers, or an RER regional express train from Javel station to Versailles Rive Gauche. Allow at least half an hour for your journey.

Glimpse at the itinerary

Every Saturday evening, up to 19 September:

morning

The Palace

If your Passport ticket shows a timed entry slot of between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm for the Palace, then start your visit at this iconic place by arriving at Entrance A at the time indicated on your ticket. You’ll need around an hour and a half for your visit.

If you are early, enjoy a coffee at Ore or wander in the bookshop librairie des Prince while waiting for your visit to start.

For Lunch

Enjoy lunch at one of the Estate’s many dining facilities, such as Ore, Angelina, or the Grand Café D'Orléans for example.

Afternoon

The Gardens

After visiting the Palace, move outside to explore the gardens, where, on Musical Fountain Show days, the water features are in operation from 11.00 am to 12.00 and then again from 3.30 to 5.00 pm. This is also a good time to discover the magnificent groves, which are opened specially and feature musical displays between 10.00 am and 7.00 pm.

Some of the groves are also open and feature music on Musical Gardens days. On these occasions, only the water features of the Mirror Pool, Neptune Fountain and the Water Theatre Grove are in operation.

Small electric vehicles are available for hire to circulate in the gardens, the park and the Trianon estate (see rental points on the map).

The estate of Trianon

Continue your visit with the Trianon estate by taking the little train for example (see the map for all the stops). You can explore the Estate at your own pace or join a guided tour (can be booked online).

Don’t forget to make it back to the gardens in time to enjoy the magnificent finale of the water display at the Neptune Fountain, from 5.20 to 5.30 pm.

Evening

The Royal Serenade and Night Fountains Show

On Saturday evenings in June, July, August and up to September 19, bring a perfect end to your day by taking part in the Royal Serenade – a French-style ball held in the Hall of Mirrors – and then attending the Night Fountains Show in the gardens. Combined tickets can be bought online for these colourful spectaculars.

Discover the gardens at night during an enchanting two-and-a-half-hour wander around the groves and fountains, all set in motion and beautifully lit for the occasion, then marvel at the fireworks display, organised by Groupe F, which brings things to a close at 10.50 pm. Find the guide to visiting the Night Fountains Show here.

On all other days during the summer, the gardens are open until 8.30 pm and the groves until 7.00 pm.
