This summer, the Palace of Versailles will host the equestrian events for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The Palace of Versailles remains open throughout the Olympic period, with a unique programme of events.

Conditions for accessing the park
Certain areas of the park will not be open to the public due to the various Olympic events being held at the Estate of Versailles. Visitors on foot or by bike are asked not to cross barriers and markers.

The Park of the Palace of Versailles remains open every day for free and can be accessed via the Gardens, the Queen's Gate, the Sailors’ Gate (closed 27 June and 27 to 29 July 2024) and the Saint Anthony Gate.

Access to the Olympic site
- Shuttle bus access (from Versailles - Chantiers, Versailles Château - Rives Gauche and Versailles Rive Droite stations) via the Choisy Gate.
- Pedestrian and bicycle access via the Park.
- By car, parking lots are reserved in collaboration with the municipality of Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt.
Access to the Olympic site by shuttle bus from the Versailles train stations is preferable for all event days.

The games are on, open up the Palace!
For Paris 2024, the Palace of Versailles is throwing the gates of the Estate wide open. From 1 July to 8 September 2024, the Estate of Trianon, the Sculptures and Mouldings Gallery, the Gallery of Coaches and the Royal Tennis Court are extending their opening hours and days.
The estate of Trianon
From 1 July to 8 September 2024, the Estate of Trianon is open from 10am to 6.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
Right next to the Palace of Versailles, discover the Estate of Trianon, including the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon and the Queen’s Hamlet. These spaces were reserved for the sovereigns’ private use, featuring remarkable buildings surrounded by a range of ornamental gardens with particular charm. Here, Louis XIV gave free rein to his love for architecture and gardens, creating an estate specifically for his own personal use. Then, Louis XV and Queen Marie-Antoinette in turn fell under the charm of these sites and contributed to their development and embellishment.

- To visit the Estate of Trianon, you need an “Estate of Trianon” or “Passport” ticket (even if you are eligible for free access).
- Opening hours from 1 July to 8 September: 10am-6.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Last admissions at 6pm.
- Come to the Estate of Trianon in the Little Train: first departure at 10.40am from the Gardens at the Water Parterre.
- From 27 July to 11 August and 3 to 7 September, access to the Park by car is forbidden.
The Gallery of Coaches, free to access
From 1 July to 8 September 2024, the Gallery of Coaches is open from 10am to 6.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday.
The Gallery of Coaches is located inside the Great Stables, where visitors can admire the biggest royal construction ever created to house horses. From majestic coaches to the small carriages that belonged to Marie-Antoinette’s children, sedan chairs to sleighs forming a strange and marvellous bestiary, discover the life of the Court and the splendour of the Ancien Régime, the Empire and the Bourbon Restoration.

- Opening hours from 1 July to 8 September: 10am-6.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Last admissions at 5.45pm.
- On 3, 10 and 11 August, the Place d’Armes carpark is closed.
The Royal Tennis Court
From 1 July to 8 September 2024, the Royal Tennis Court is open from 12.30pm to 6.30pm, on weekends and public holidays
On 20 June 1789, the Royal Tennis Court of Versailles entered into France's history. The room was used for exercise under Louis XIV, before becoming the birthplace of French democracy, linked to a pivotal event of the Revolution.

The "Oeil-de-bœuf" Antechamber reopens at the Palace of Versailles
From mid-July 2024
Large-scale restoration has been undertaken in the "Oeil-de-bœuf" Antechamber, an iconic room of life at court under Louis XIV. The works involved restoring the woodwork, gilding, and painted décor in this masterpiece of decorative arts. The Palace also updated security measures in the King’s Apartment, where the famous King’s Chamber is located. From mid-July on, both rooms will be accessible in their entirety

The Horse in Majesty exhibition
From 2 July to 3 November 2024 - At the Palace of Versailles
As a tribute to the equestrian events of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Palace of Versailles presents the Horse in Majesty - At the Heart of a Civilisation exhibition. Nearly 300 works highlight the role and uses of horses in civil and military society, from the 16th to 20th century, until the dawn of World War I, which marked the end of horse-drawn modes of transport and relegated horses to the field of leisure.
Eva Jospin – Versailles exhibition
