In hot weather, it's advisable to adapt your route to ensure comfort and safety. Here are a few practical tips to help you make the most of your visit while protecting yourself from the effects of the heat.

Please note that there is no air conditioning inside the Palace, the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon. Howerver, the ‘Genius and Majesty - Louis XIV by Bernini’ exhibition rooms, are air-conditioned.

Here are a few practical tips to make sure your visit goes as smoothly as possible:
- Carry a water bottle to keep regularly hydrated
- Apply sun cream
- Cover up with light clothing and wear a cap or hat
- Avoid staying alone
Adapt your visit to hot weather
Drinking water fountains
To avoid deshydratation, drink regularly and use free drinking water points in the outdoor areas of the estate where you can fill your water bottles.

Refreshments and food
There are plenty of fresh drinks outlets in the Versailles estate. During the summer, takeaway stands also sell freshly squeezed orange juice and ice creams, making them the perfect place to take a break in the shadow.
You can also have a break in the Angelina tea room inside the Palace.

There are several shaded areas in the gardens to cool off during your visit. In very hot weather, we recommend that you use these areas.

Other indoor venues can also be a great way to cool off:
- The Gallery of Coaches : open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 12:30pm to 6:30pm (last admission 5:45 pm). Free access.
- The Sculptures and Mouldings Gallery : open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 12:30pm to 6:30pm (last admission 5:45 pm). Free access.
- The Petit Trianon and its gardens : open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 12 pm to 6:30 pm. Free access for under 18 and under 26 of the European Union.
In the gardens of the Palace, you can also cool off in the Orangery and take a lunch break in the shade of the Marmousets Hall.

The Musical Fountains Show and the Musical Gardens
From April 1 to October 31 2025, enjoy the Musical Gardens and the Musical Fountains Show in the gardens and groves opened for the occasion. Every Saturday evening from 7 June to 20 September, Monday 14 July and Friday 15 August, discover the Gardens in the evening with the The Night Fountains Show.

Virtual Reality: The Sun King’s Lost Gardens
For the first time, the Palace of Versailles is opening its doors for an extraordinary virtual reality (VR) journey back in time! Immerse yourself in 1682 and join André Le Nôtre, Louis XIV’s gardener, on a special tour of specific groves of the gardens which are no existing anymore.
