This summer, the Palace of Versailles invites visitors to rediscover the Trianon Estate. Exhibitions, the fountains brought to life, and strolls through the gardens… it is a more intimate Versailles, set in the heart of nature, for the public to enjoy throughout the summer.

From May 5 to September 27, 2026, at the Grand Trianon, on the Estate of Trianon, discover the exhibition "Gardens of the Enlightenment, 1750–1800", which offers a unique insight into landscape gardens in the 18th century through nearly 160 works, including paintings, drawings, furniture, architectural plans, and costumes.
the beautiful waters of trianon
Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm, the fountains of the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon come to life again thanks to the restoration of the estate’s hydraulic system, allowing all the fountains and water features across the Estate of Trianon to be activated simultaneously.

the perfumer's garden
Located in the Châteauneuf Orangery, this garden of hundreds of floral species tells the story of perfume and its uses at the Court of Versailles. Its paths and richly flowered parterres are freely accessible from the Bassin du Trèfle via the chemin creux. Open to all visitors for self-guided visits every weekend for the duration of the “Gardens of the Enlightenment, 1750-1800” exhibition, from May 9 to September 27, from 12 pm to 6:30 pm (last admission at 5:45 pm), as well as on guided tours.
The Perfumer’s Garden project is the result of an exceptional collaborative effort between the gardeners of Trianon and Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

THE PARTERRE OF ENLIGHTENMENT
Each year, the parterres of Trianon are adorned with carefully selected plant species chosen by the gardeners to reflect the current programming of the Palace of Versailles. On the occasion of the "Gardens of the Enlightenment, 1750–1800" exhibition, the parterres illustrate the evolution of the art of gardening in the 18th century, marked by a growing interest in botany and the living world. The upper parterre is inspired by the English garden, abundant yet carefully controlled, while the lower parterre recreates a wild natural meadow in its most untouched form. Both invite a meditative stroll.
AMERICA AND VERSAILLES
On the occasion of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the American Independance, the Palace of Versailles is offering, for one weekend on July 4 and 5, 2026, a historical reenactment for the whole family at the Estate of Trianon.
On the programme: a troop review on the parade ground of the Château of Trianon, a historical encampment set up in the Trianon gardens, equestrian and military demonstrations, the discovery of traditional trades, period dances and music concerts, as well as the show, The grand battle.

The Estate of Trianon was built as early as 1668 with the Porcelain Trianon, a personal commission from Louis XIV for his mistress, Madame de Montespan. A lover of nature, he sought to make Trianon a place entirely devoted to pleasure, rest, and privacy.
quotation
"I made Versailles for my Court, Marly for my friends, and Trianon for myself " - Louis XIV.
Over the years, the Estate expanded to take the form we know today. Comprising three unique ensembles, Trianon stands as an exceptional witness to the tastes and evolving styles of the 17th, 18th, and even 19th centuries. In just a few steps, visitors can move from the Grand Trianon to the Petit Trianon, from the formal French garden with its geometric basins to the English-style garden, and finally reach the Queen’s Hamlet and its follies, seemingly straight out of a theatrical set.
To visit the Estate of Trianon is also to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest figures in history: from Louis XIV to Marie-Antoinette, including Napoleon I and Louis-Philippe I, and even General de Gaulle. All of them have left their mark on Trianon through their presence and influence.
must-sees
The English Gardens
In 1774, on becoming mistress of the Estate, Marie-Antoinette profoundly transformed the surroundings of the Petit Trianon. She had Louis XV’s botanical garden replaced with a vast Anglo-Chinese garden, inspired by Enlightenment writings advocating a return to nature. Along its winding flower-lined and wooded paths, visitors can discover the creations of architect Richard Mique: the Love Monument and the Belvedere.
Perystile of Grand Trianon
For the construction of his private residence, Louis XIV dreamed of a palace literally open to nature. Jules Hardouin-Mansart fulfilled his wish by creating this loggia inspired by Italian palaces.
The "Admirable Trees of Trianon"
Visitors can also discover thirteen trees identified as remarkable for their beauty, history, or botanical rarity: giant sequoia, weeping Japanese pagoda tree, and fastigiate pedunculate oak. This sound walk, made possible through the patronage of Maison Rémy Martin, is available free of charge on the mobile app.
Since 2024, a Biodiversity Observatory, supported by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, has been monitoring the development of biodiversity and is able to provide localised information on its state across the Versailles and Marly estates.
