FAQ GROUP

Due to application of the anti-terrorist security plan, large bags and suitcases are prohibited. Automatic deposits are at your disposal to leave your personal items and luggage that do not exceed the limited format.

Bookings open 3 months in advance, on the first working day of the month from 9am. (For example, for a visit in January, bookings can be made from the first working day of October at 9am).

It is no longer possible to make a booking less than one month before the visit (except for self-guided visits and training courses, for which telephone bookings are possible until the day before).

The Versailles estate is closed on the 1^st January, 1^st May and 25^th December.

It is open on other public holidays, except when they fall on a Monday, the weekly closing day.

During the low season (1 November - 31 March), the gardens are free to visit without booking.
In the high season (1 April - 31 October), admission is charged on the days of the Musical fountains show and the Musical Gardens.

Tickets are compulsory (free for French school groups on presentation of a list of pupils and proof of identity).

Self-guided tours of the gardens are free for French school parties. Please be aware that there is an entrance charge for the gardens on days where there is a Musical Fountains Show or Musical Gardens Show. You must buy a ticket. 

You can get to the Palace:

• by RER/SNCF train
• by shuttle or bus
• by coach

In front of the Palace: Place d'Armes for cars and coaches – open 24 hours a day. Parking is paid for all vehicles: see pricing conditions

In the Park: Grand Canal, Petit Trianon, Grand Trianon, Queen's Hamlet (coaches only at the Carrefour des châteaux de Trianon). Please print a second copy of your ticket for the driver. This will serve as proof of payment if you wish to access and park for free in the Park (Queen's Gate entrance). Parking at Place d'Armes is still subject to a charge.

Access to the Park is free for pedestrians, bicycles, disabled people and their companions (upon presentation of proof).

• Due to the closure of the left luggage service for sanitary reasons, the pushchairs are tolerated inside of the Palace. We strongly recommend the use of baby carriers and kangaroo bags as much as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
• Pushchairs are allowed in the Gardens and the Park.
• Under normal circumstances, pushchairs and metal baby carriers  are not allowed inside of the Palace. You must leave them at the free bag deposit. We advise you to bring a baby carrier without a metal frame for babies under one year old.

• South ministers' wing : free automatic deposits are available (for luggage not exceeding 46 x 43 x 26 cm)
• North ministers' wing : exclusively for school groups, free automatic deposits are available (for luggage not exceeding 46 x 43 x 26 cm)

Nevertheless, pushchairs are accepted in the museum.

The Park surrounding the Grand Canal is free and open daily (except in extreme weather conditions: snow, strong winds, etc.) and can be accessed via the gardens or the city.  You may visit the park on foot, horseback, by boat, Segway®, with an electric vehicle or on the little train.  Vehicles must pay a fee to enter the Park (€3 for motorcycles, €6 for cars, €30 for coaches) except for disabled people upon presentation of proof of disability. Parking spaces are available at the Grand Canal, at the entrance to the Petit Trianon, the Grand Trianon and the Queen's Hamlet.

From the city, three entrances provide direct access to the park, depending on what you want to see:

• The Queen's Gate (north-east): located on the Boulevard de la Reine, near the gardens.
  On foot or by bike from 7am or 8am to 6pm or 8:30pm depending on the season, or by car from 9am to 4:50pm or 5:50pm.
• Saint Anthony Gate (north): located on D186 when arriving from Chesnay, near Marie-Antoinette’s Estate. 
  On foot or bike from 9:30am to 6pm or 7pm depending on the season. Vehicles are only allowed on weekends in high season (access is charged, last entrance is at 6:50pm). 
• Sailors' Gate (south): located on Route de Saint-Cyr (D10). 
  On foot or by bike from 9:30am to 6pm or 7pm depending on the season.

You can reach the Park from the Palace by crossing the gardens on foot and going through the Petite Venise Gate.

NB: admission to the gardens is charged on Musical Fountain Show and Musical Gardens days. You cannot cross the gardens on these dates without paying the entrance fee.

• All the areas open for unaccompanied visits of the Palace and the Grand Trianon are accessible for disabled people.
• The first floor of the Petit Trianon is not accessible to people with a motor disability. However, a multimedia room on the ground floor provides a presentation of the first floor and the attic.
